Study Guide for Intro to 6th Grade Social Studies Assessment

Use the following information to help guide you as you prepare for the Unit Test.

  • ·         Perspectives of H.E.L.P. (Historian, Economist, Location (geographer), and Political Scientist)

  • ·         Key Vocabulary terms from Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 and other topics covered:
    • Absolute location, relative location, surplus, drought, domesticate, subsist,terrace, GIS ( you may not see all of these on the test)

  • ·         Explain what type of society was more beneficial(Hunter/gatherer vs. Agricultural) and defend reasons why

  • ·         Latitude/Longitude Skills

  • ·         Understand the 5 Themes of Geography-Location, Place, Human-Environment Interaction, Movement, Region

  • ·         Timeline Skills

  • ·         Know examples of how G.I.S. benefits people, places, or environments

Agricultural Revolution HELP Project

To help you stay on track to complete your H.E.L.P. project by the due date on 9/30 follow this plan!

Wednesday 9/23 - make plan/ideas (reviewed rubric in class & showed samples)-Begin.
Thursday 9/24 - draw and color your H picture-class time provided
Friday 9/25  - draw and color your E picture and complete the write up for your H and E picture-class time providedS
Saturday 9/26- draw and color your L picture
Sunday 9/27 - complete the write up for your L picture
Monday 9/28 - draw and color your P picture
Tuesday 9/29 - complete the write up for you P picture





You should be completed and ready to turn in your project on Wednesday 9/30 :)!!

Remember your pictures are to be hand drawn and colored using crayons or colored pencils. No white areas should be left on your paper - fill the space with your drawings. Sentences must be at least 2-4 sentences and detailed. Use the information from lesson 2.1, 2.2 or the brain-pop video clip we watched on the agricultural revolution.
